MODERN ROOFS LTD

In the mid 1960's Dave (Digger) Ward, our Dad, with the encouragement and support of his beautiful wife, our late Mum, Val, set up Modern Roofs, known then as ABC Roofing Leicester. ABC quickly earned a reputation for offering quality and value and so the family business was born.

In 1994, Dad semi-retired and handed the reins over to us, Reuben and Katrina. We eventually re-branded the business and named it Modern Roofs, and Jay, who has been working with us since he was a teen, came onboard as our right-hand man, helping our small, family run business thrive. 

​

Modern Roofs since it's inception, has always been very family orientated and despite the name Modern, in reference to our growing knowledge of new products and methods in the industry, have always retained very traditional moral values.

An introduction...

Reuben: When he's not working hard, measuring up or assessing roofs, hard at it in the office, or with his wife, Debbie and 3 (grown) children, you'll find Reuben on the banks of a lake! A pass time that pretty much sums him up, laid back! 

Debbie also works in the office as an admin assistant and manages our social media & website. This is a new arena for Debbie, but she's enjoying the challenge.

Reuben started working for his Dad as soon as he left school at just 16. He wasn't given a cushy job, he started by being a labourer and carried many a roll of felt up the ladders! He enrolled in courses and went to college and qualified in roofing. He learnt the trade not just on paper but by watching and learning from the other roofers on the firm. He earned their respect and the rest as they say is history.

Jay: Is and has always been one of the longest serving and hardest grafters on the firm, he's  also fully qualified. Modern Roofs wouldn't be where they are without him, his loyalty is insurmountable! When he's not overseeing some of our larger contracts or working hard in the office, you'll find Jay and his wife Vicky with their family, which includes their beautiful grandchildren. Jay often shares video's of them dancing and playing, his pride for them almost as great as the pride he takes in his work ;) Unfortunately, Jay is too camera shy to be focused in our albums, but trust us, he's a handsome devil, almost as handsome as Reuben! 

 

 

Katrina: Like her brother Reuben, Katrina has been a big part of Modern Roofs success, employed by her Dad since her early 20's. Working hard in the office to make sure everything runs smoothly. Katrina is a huge dog lover and will often be spotted around the village walking Clemmie, unless it's raining and then you'll see her husband Neil walking her ;) Trina spends most of her free time with her husband, son, daughter in-law and grandchildren. If not in Leicestershire then at her favourite spot along the Norfolk coast.

The Real Team: Last but certainly not least, are our most valuable members of the Modern Roof Family, the qualified guys working in all weather conditions to make sure your property is safe from the elements. 

​

Steve has been with us for many, many years and despite his facial expression ;) he loves his work and takes extra pride in everything he does. Steve has worked to the highest standards on all of our major contracts.

Dave has also been a loyal and long standing part of our team. He's like a Spider Monkey up and down the ladders and has more energy than those half his years! A popular member of the team both with his colleagues and the home owners he meets on his jobs.

We also have trusted, highly skilled and qualified sub-contractors as part of our team. Joe, Dan, Bruce and Henry to mention but a few. These guys pitch in (pardon the pun) where they are needed the most. Their work is impeccable, which aligns with the standards we hold at Modern Roofs Ltd.
